Product Description in DetailEmergency Overflow
Deltec skimmers are characterized by particularly good skimming results. The Deltec
Skimmer 1000ix features a newly developed emergency overflow. This prevents the skimmer from “boiling over” when the water level rises. This can happen, for example, if the feed pump stops working and additional water flows into the sump. The water level also rises if there are problems with the air supply, e.g., if the silicone hose is bent or if there are foreign objects in the air intake line. This can cause the skimmer to “boil over,” causing the water to rise so high that it is forced into the skimmer cup, and the skimmer solution is flushed back into the aquarium. This leads to extreme water pollution. The Emergency Overflow made by Deltec prevents this and thus protects the aquarium from contamination.
Emergency Overflow Pipe & Regulator Pipe
The water level in the skimmer can be read from the emergency overflow pipe. In addition, minimum and maximum markings help with optimal water level adjustment. The ability to swap the emergency overflow pipe with the regulator pipe allows the user to decide how the pipes are arranged.
Pump
The Deltec Skimmer 1000ix is powered by the low-consumption and powerful Deltec DCS 600 Pump. This generates 600 liters of air while consuming only 11 watts.
The ergonomic cylindrical shape
Thanks to its ergonomic cylindrical shape, the Deltec Skimmer 1000ix achieves optimal skimming results. The shape of the skimmer does not taper towards the top. This allows the small air bubbles to rise unhindered, are fully saturated, and only burst in the riser tube of the skimmer. From there, the collected liquid can be drained via a drain hose without having to remove the skimmer.
Cleaning System
An optional cleaning system is available for the Deltec Skimmer 1000ix, whereby the inner riser tube is cleaned of deposits by turning the skimmer lid. If these deposits are not removed regularly, the skimming performance is drastically reduced, as foam bubbles burst prematurely on this layer and thus cannot contribute to water purification.
Hollow-Chamber Bottom
An additional innovation of the Deltec Skimmer 1000ix is the hollow-chamber bottom. This helps to further dampen noise, which is why the already quiet Deltec Skimmer 1000ix is described as “whisper-quiet.” Furthermore, the water flows back through the hollow chamber bottom. This means that the water exits the skimmer at the lowest possible point, preventing almost any air bubbles from entering the aquarium.
Disassembly, Dimensions & Construction
Regularly required cleaning of the pump is made very easy by the quick and easy disassembly of the skimmer. The Deltec Skimmer 1000ix can be assembled and disassembled without tools. Our tests have shown that the pump can be removed from the skimmer in less than 20 seconds.The dimensions of our skimmer are designed so that you can easily install it in your filter tank. The high volume of the cylindrical shape means a small footprint is sufficient. You can operate the Deltec Skimmer 1000ix in water depths from 15 cm to 25 cm.
